Variable Rate Mapping Services
- Variable Rate Mapping is a fairly simple process of taking an image from
a field and creating zones based off of this input image.
- Input maps can come from many different sources, Satellite or
Aerial Images, Yield Maps, Veris Maps, Grid Soil Samples, Grower
Defined Areas and Soils Maps to name a few possible sources.
- From these maps there are basically two types of maps we
produce, Fertilizing and Seeding.
(Below is the Yield Map for a 2006 Wheat crop as a
possible image source)

Variable Rate Fertilizing
- Fertilizing can be N-P-K, Micro-Nutrients, Lime or Manure
applications.
- Images will typically be adjusted to 3 to 5 zones for soil
sampling.
- Yield goals set for each zone.
- Zones are soil sampled.
- Variable Rate Application maps created.
- Cost - $1.50 / Acre (Maybe added charges if
images need to be purchased)
(Below is a Urea VRT Fertilizing Application map based
off a 2005 Corn Satellite Image and zone soil tests)

Variable Rate Seeding
- For use in Variable Rate Seeding or Variable Variety Seeding.
Application rates can be set to minimal zone rates as below or
interpolated rates like the fertilizer map above.
- Zones are normally established off of the Growers and/or
Consultants knowledge of the field and the crop being planted,
previous years yield maps are preferred.
- Once the zones are established, seeding rates set.
- Variable Rate Map will be created.
- Cost - $1.50 / Acre (Maybe added charges if
images need to be purchased)
(Below is a VRT Seeding map based on previous corn
crops imagery data)
